Description:

Unique biomechanical control and cushioning protection for use within therapeutic footwear. The 'At Risk' foot can suffer a number of problems including weakness of the supporting muscles of the arch and tor joints, restrictions of movement, loss of sensation and dryness of the skin. 

As a result of these problems prescribers are presented with a number of challenges in selecting the correct orthotic. - Stabilising and protecting the insensate or ischaemic foot - Selecting the correct combination of materials - Custom fitting the orthotic to therapeutic footwear - Rapid supply to the patient - Maximise the use of funds available. 

In the 'At Risk' foot, deformity and poor posture and compounded by sensorimotor neuropathy and ischemia. This generally requires the provision of a custom made orthotic to meet all necessary criteria.

An orthotic designed for this group requires material selection options to balance control and protection issues and must fit well within the shoe models. 

Pronation forces must be controlled with appropriate levels of support and additional cushioning under those areas of the sole exposed to higher loading pressures.  

The Safeguard orthotic is designed to meet the biomechanical demands of the 'At Risk' foot and provides choices in shell density and cushioning levels. By using Safeguard the practitioner can instantly deliver excellent support and protection within wide, standard and narrow models of therapeutic footwear.

  • Supplied with adhesive backed 4° extended medial post EVA heel cupping for heel stability (reduction of heel valgus)

  • Medial arch support (support of the navicular bone to support tibialis posterior and tibialis anterior muscle action)
